The Inner GameInner Game / Gallwey

The Inner Game is the idea that performance takes place between two inner players. Timothy Gallwey distinguishes Self 1, the judging and instructing voice, from Self 2, the naturally learning body. The real opponent is often not outside but in a person's own inner interference. Coaching teaches one to lower the voice of Self 1 and trust Self 2. A quieted mind does what it already knows.
