What is the Emotion Mirror?
The Emotion Mirror is a self-assessment that shows where you struggle not in feeling emotions but in coping with them. It draws on the difficulties-in-emotion-regulation framework and measures six dimensions: noticing, naming, goal-direction, impulse control, acceptance, and seeing a way out.
What shapes our lives is not emotions themselves but the relationship we build with them. Two people live the same anger very differently: one notices it, names it and finds a way out; the other is swept up and loses control. This test gently shows where you stand across these six dimensions.
How to read the result
Each dimension has three bands: strength, balanced, and area to work on. A high score is not “bad” and a low score is not “good”; it simply shows a tendency in that dimension. The aim is not to grade you but to offer a mirror you can look into from the outside. If you wish, AI reads the six dimensions together and offers a short, personal reflection.
What next?
Emotion regulation is a learnable skill, not a fixed trait. If you struggle in one or two dimensions, small daily habits (naming the feeling, short pauses, self-compassion phrases) make a difference. If you see intense difficulty across several dimensions, you don’t have to carry it alone: talking to a coach, therapist or doctor brings real relief. These results are not a diagnosis.
The six dimensions measured
| Dimension | What it measures |

| Goal-Direction | Staying focused and productive when upset. |
| Impulse Control | Staying in control of behavior in intense moments. |
| Acceptance | Accepting a negative feeling without self-judgment. |
| Strategies | Believing there is something you can do to feel better. |
