The subtle centers (laṭāʾif)Latâif-i Sitte

Sufism speaks of subtle centers of perception within the self and calls them the laṭāʾif. Listed as nafs, qalb, sirr, rūḥ, khafī, and akhfā, these centers are regarded as parts of the self much like the organs of the body. Each laṭīfa corresponds to a different mode of perception and spiritual capacity. This map reads the inner world not as a single block but as a layered structure.
