Servant leadership

Servant leadership is an understanding in which the leader takes as their basis serving their team first, prioritizing their development and well-being. The concept was defined by Robert Greenleaf. In this approach the leader sees their authority not as a privilege but as a responsibility; the question they ask is not 'how should I be served?' but 'how can I serve?'. The servant leader, rather than gathering power in themselves, shares it and helps people grow. In coaching, this understanding bears a natural kinship with the coaching stance; both put at the center not themselves but the other.
