Tone of voice

Tone of voice is the manner of delivery that loads the same words with different meanings. The speed, pitch, stress, and pauses of speech, this layer called prosody in linguistics, often tell more than the content itself. The same sentence "I am fine" can, according to its tone, carry a genuine ease or a hidden weariness. Tone is a window opening onto the person's true emotional state. The coach notices the mismatch between what the client says and the way they say it, and often sees that the real matter is hidden in the tone.
