Observational learning

Observational learning is acquiring knowledge and skill by watching someone else. Albert Bandura's famous studies showed that people learn not only from their own experience but also by observing others. In mentoring, the mentee learns both technique and attitude by watching how the mentor handles a situation. This learning often requires no conscious effort at all; observation leaves its mark by itself. A master watched closely teaches a great deal in silence.
