Habit stacking
Habit stacking is placing a new behavior on top of an already established habit. James Clear describes this method in his book Atomic Habits. Its formula is simple: 'After this habit of mine, I will do this new behavior.' Because the existing habit is a reliable trigger, the new behavior does not have to be remembered. Something like 'after I pour my morning coffee, I will plan my day for three minutes.' A new behavior attached to an existing routine holds better than one standing alone.
