Behavioral momentum
Behavioral momentum is the impetus that arises from continuity and makes movement easier. As a behavior is repeated one after another, keeping it up requires less and less effort, just as a body in motion resists stopping. This is why not breaking the chain is often more important than doing it perfectly. The 'don't break the chain' approach attributed to Jerry Seinfeld rests on this idea: each day done is marked, and the unbroken run is sustained. Accumulated continuity also changes a person's identity in the direction of 'I am someone who does this'.
