Setting an example

Setting an example is the mentor showing what they say by living it. The mentor does not merely speak of a value; they embody that value in their own behavior. When there is consistency between what is said and what is done, the lesson the mentee learns is far deeper. This skill requires the mentor to know they are constantly being observed. A principle shown by living it is more convincing than one explained in words.
