Radical candorradical candor
Radical candor is being able to care about a person and at the same time honestly challenge them. It is a framework developed by Kim Scott in her book of the same name. It has two axes: caring personally and challenging directly. When both are present, real feedback is born; without caring, honesty slides into aggression, and without challenging, caring slides into a self-serving politeness. Being both warm and clear is harder than choosing one of the two, but it is more valuable.
