The protector

The protector is the role of shielding the mentee from risks they are not yet ready for. This can take the form of protecting the mentee from a mistake or being a shield in front of a difficulty. Protection is valuable, but when it goes too far it prevents the mentee from living their own experience and learning from mistakes. A good protector knows when to step in and when to let the mentee go. To protect is to open a space for the mentee without weakening them.
