Mutual respect

Mutual respect is mentor and mentee valuing each other in both directions. Even though mentoring carries a vertical relationship, respect should not be one-sided; the mentor values the mentee's talent and potential, and the mentee values the mentor's experience and effort. This respect keeps the relationship healthy and dignified. Where there is no respect, even the best advice falls to the ground. Mutual valuing is the invisible yet load-bearing fabric of the relationship.
