Commitment is the effort and time that mentor and mentee devote to the process. Mentoring requires both sides to set aside time regularly and to treat the relationship as a priority; a one-sided commitment wears the relationship down. Commitment becomes visible in the continuity of meetings and in keeping the promises made. The effort put into a relationship is often in direct proportion to the value drawn from it. A relationship to which both sides devote themselves is the deepest one.
