Mind reading

Mind reading is assuming that one knows what another person is thinking, and most often in a negative direction. A person interprets someone who replies late to their message as "so they do not like me" and treats this assumption as if it were a fact. Yet the other person's silence may have countless other reasons. A person projects their own fear onto another's mind and then believes it. The coach helps the client see the difference between assumption and knowledge: "Do you really know this, or are you guessing?"
