Growth mindset

Growth mindset is the belief that abilities can be developed through effort, learning, and perseverance. In Carol Dweck's research it is defined as the opposite of a fixed mindset. A person who holds this belief sees difficulty not as a threat but as an opportunity to grow, and reads failure not as an end but as feedback. That small 'yet' in the sentence 'I can't do it yet' changes the whole outlook. The coach feeds this mindset by helping the client tie a mistake not to their identity but to the process.
