Impostor syndromeimpostor

Impostor syndrome is a person feeling, despite their achievements, like an impostor, and carrying the fear that sooner or later they will be "exposed." Psychologists Pauline Clance and Suzanne Imes first described this phenomenon. This feeling leads the person to attribute their achievements to luck or to outside factors and to be unable to internalize their own competence; it is especially common in talented people. Impostor syndrome is not a reality but a distortion of perception. The coach helps the client truly claim their achievements as their own and distinguish this fear from fact.
