Ego statesTA
Ego states is a model that says a person acts, at every moment, from one of three different inner positions. Eric Berne, the founder of Transactional Analysis, defines these states as parent, adult, and child. The parent state represents learned rules and judgments, the child state early emotions and reactions, and the adult state realistic thinking in the moment. When a person notices which state they are speaking from in an interaction, they can manage their reactions more consciously. The coach can help the client see which ego state they are acting from in a conflict.
