Confirmation bias
Confirmation bias is a person seeking out information that confirms what they already believe and ignoring information that refutes it. A person pays attention to evidence that supports their own view and belittles or does not notice what contradicts it. This is why even a false belief can, over time, come to feel ever firmer; for the mind gathers only what feeds it. This tendency also explains why limiting beliefs are so stubborn. The coach invites the client to look honestly at the evidence that contradicts their belief as well.
