Character analysisReich
Character analysis is an early approach based on the concept of bodily armor. Developed by Wilhelm Reich, this work proposes that a person's defenses lodge in the body as chronic muscular tension, that is, an 'armor'. Reich argued that dissolving this bodily armor could support emotional release. This approach is among the works that first treated the link between body and character in a systematic way. Character analysis laid the ground for many later somatic schools.
