The spiritual unconscious

Alongside repressed contents, Frankl speaks of a spiritual depth not yet noticed, and he calls it the spiritual unconscious. What lies hidden here is not only repressed wishes but a person's bond with meaning and conscience. This depth often surfaces at a moment of crisis. The concept ties spirituality not to pathology but to a natural layer of the human being.
