The German mystic Meister Eckhart speaks of a point at the very depth of the soul that touches the Divine. The Seelengrund — the ground of the soul and the spark within it — is the innermost core, untouched by outer conditions. For Eckhart this point is the silent, unshakable center within the human being. The concept proposes that at a person's very depth there is a place that remains untouched.
