Somatic philosophy
Somatic philosophy is the view that sees the body not as a passive object but as the subject of experience. Against the long tradition of Western thought that separated body from mind, this approach holds that the two are an inseparable unity. Somatic philosophy proposes that knowledge and meaning arise not only in the abstract intellect but in the lived body too. This view forms the philosophical ground of somatic therapy and body-based work. To regard the body as a subject is the beginning of seeing the human being as a whole.
