Embodied cognitionembodied cognition
Embodied cognition is a field of research proposing that thought and mental processes are grounded in the body. In this view, our concepts, and even our abstract thoughts, are nourished by our bodily experiences; expressions such as 'a weighty decision' or 'a warm welcome', for example, rest on bodily sensations. The mind is not a calculator independent of the body but a process working intertwined with it. This field strengthens the scientific ground of somatic approaches. Thought is far more bodily than it seems.
