Preventing dependency

Preventing dependency is not leaving the mentee in a position of needing the mentor. The aim of good mentoring is to strengthen the mentee and make them independent, not to become an authority they constantly need. The mentor supports the mentee in making their own decisions and standing on their own feet. A mentoring that creates dependency, beyond a certain point, hinders the mentee's development. The best mentor binds the mentee not to themselves but to self-confidence.
