Conflict of interest

A conflict of interest is a situation where the mentor's role and their personal interest clash. At a point where the mentee's good conflicts with the mentor's own advantage, the mentor is bound to recognize this openly and to put the mentee's benefit first. For example, the mentor must not turn the mentee's development into a tool for their own gain. Noticing these conflicts and handling them transparently protects the honesty of the relationship. The mentee's benefit always comes before the mentor's personal gain.
