Meta-listeningmeta

Meta-listening is hearing the unsaid beneath what is said. The choice of words, the constant skipping of a subject, or the leaving of a sentence half-finished often carries the real message. The coach follows both the content and how that content is constructed, at the same time. A distinction such as "you keep saying 'they' but you never say 'I'" is born of this listening. The real subject is often hidden in the gap of the sentence.
