The intention-action gap
The intention-action gap is the distance between deciding to do something and actually doing it. A person often knows what they should do but does not do it; knowing alone does not turn into action. Behavioral science has studied this gap for years and shows that the way to close it runs through binding the intention to a concrete plan. The coach does not judge this gap; they build, together with the client, the structures that will narrow it. The distance often arises not from a lack of knowledge but from a vague intention.
