The felt sensefelt sense
The felt sense is a bodily grasp that has not yet turned into words, vague but meaningful. This concept, developed by the philosopher and psychotherapist Eugene Gendlin, describes the counterpart of a situation felt as a whole in the body but not immediately definable in words. This sense can appear as a knot or a vague heaviness, and when approached with attention, it slowly opens. Gendlin showed that listening to this felt sense brings insight. This knowledge of the body, prior to being put into words, often carries what the mind has not yet noticed.
