The body-subject

For Merleau-Ponty, the body is not the passive receiver of perception but its subject. We do not see an object from a single angle; we turn around it, move closer, step back, and come to know it through our movement. It is not a mind measuring space but a body moving within it. This is why perception and movement cannot be separated.
