Action logics are the levels of maturity that determine how a person interprets situations and how they behave. Developed by William Torbert and his colleagues, this framework is used especially in leadership development. According to the model, leaders pass through successive action logics; each level responds differently to power, conflict, and feedback. Early logics tend to protect one's own rightness, while more advanced logics take in different perspectives. Coaching can help a leader notice which logic they are acting from and move to a wider one.
