The fight responsefight
The fight response is the body moving in the direction of resistance in the face of a threat. When the nervous system perceives danger, it prepares a person to defend or to struggle; the heart speeds up, the muscles tense, and energy is directed toward action. This response has, at its root, a protective survival instinct. Bodily it can be felt as anger, tension, or the urge to push something away. The fight response is one of the body's ways of protecting itself.
