Assigning challenging tasks

Assigning challenging tasks is the mentor offering the mentee challenging opportunities that will speed up their development. People often grow not in their comfort zone but in tasks that stretch them; by giving the mentee work they can bear but that stretches them, the mentor feeds this growth. These tasks give the mentee both new skills and self-confidence. The mentor tunes the difficulty of the task to the mentee's capacity. A challenging task given at the right time is often the fastest-teaching experience.
