The Self (Selbst)Selbst

Jung's concept of the Self is the archetype beyond the ego that serves as the organizing center of wholeness. While the ego is the center of conscious identity, the Self represents the unity of consciousness and the unconscious. This center is the goal toward which individuation moves. The Self often appears in dreams and symbols as an image of order and wholeness.
