Recollection (anamnesis)anamnesis

Plato sees knowing not as learning from scratch but as remembering what the soul already carries, and he calls this anamnesis. When we meet a truth, the sense that 'I seem to have always known this' is a trace of such recollection. Lifting a veil is different from loading in data from outside. Most realizations in inner work resemble recalling something forgotten more than learning something new.
