Cultivation is the phase in which the relationship deepens and is most fruitful. In Kram's theory this is the period when mentoring bears its real fruit; trust has become solid, and the mentee has begun to develop. In this phase the mentor offers both career and personal-development support, and the relationship gains real depth. Cultivation is the longest and most satisfying phase of the relationship. The seeds sown here often feed the mentee's whole journey.
