Anxiety (Angst)Angst

Heidegger distinguishes anxiety from fear. Fear has a definite object; we are afraid of something. Anxiety has no definite object it can turn toward; it is rather an objectless tightening. This is why the sense of 'I don't know why I feel uneasy' stands close to existential anxiety. Anxiety brings a person face to face with their own existence.
