Hill’s text is the dream book of pure American capitalism; philosophically shallow, yet ruthless in terms of mental discipline. Why does Cevvela have you read this book? Because he best explains the concept of the “burning desire” needed to awaken that “raw ore.” No, the universe doesn’t hear your desires and serve them up on a golden platter. But here’s where Hill is right: you can’t achieve any goal in the outside world unless you’ve absolutely built it in your mind and sealed it with your belief. You’ll realize just how “cheap” and dispensable your commitment to your goals actually is. You have to burn your ships. Faith is not a passive prayer; it is the wildest form of willpower.
