Zweig writes about how a heart stabs itself. It is the most perfect monument to the human tragedy of “not being seen.” The woman’s love is so vast that it has turned into an illness that destroys her own identity. Cevvela opposes sacrificing one’s own inner gem to another person’s approval. The writer is so blinded by his own narcissism that he never notices that immense passion. As you read, you understand that what you call “noble love” is in fact the most terrible betrayal of one’s own existence. Giving up your life for someone else is not a romantic virtue; it is psychological suicide. To love someone who does not see you is to worship blindness.
