In this text Rousseau strips his own soul completely bare. No writer has ever set down his own weakness, betrayals and vanity so mercilessly. This text is the raw, soiled gem behind humanity’s polished mask of morality. When Cevvela says “we don’t sell consolation,” this is exactly the kind of honesty we mean. Those who cannot bear themselves should not read it; for in Rousseau’s weaknesses you will find your own hypocrisy.
