A book that collides hard with the Cevvela manifesto. Coelho uses sweet, lyrical, easily consumed language. But this text is the masterpiece of exactly that safe zone of “selling consolation.” The sentence “when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it” is a comfort pill that numbs people by ignoring failure and the injustice of the system. No — the universe does not conspire on your behalf. The universe is indifferent. Bringing out the gem does not come from setting sail on mystical winds, but from being in the mud, drenched in blood and sweat. The book promises you your own potential, yet it does so in such a cheap, fairy-tale way that it removes the pain of taking action. What you need is not signs from the universe but your own will.
