Is This Your Life, or Is It Just “Passing By”?

Amid the “flow” of professional life and the “necessary steps” of our routines—which sweep us along—as days, months, and years pass one after another, and everything seems to be going smoothly… Have you ever stopped to think?

Work gets done, the calendar fills up, messages are answered, and cups of tea are sipped.

But in a quiet moment of the night, when everything comes to a halt…

Perhaps this thought crosses your mind: Is all of this truly mine, or is it just passing through me?

In this life that they say is moving “as it should,” what did you really want?

The decisions you made… were they really yours?

Did you truly decide, or was the decision already made for you?

When you buy a product, watch a video, or dream a dream…

How much of it belongs to you, and how much was built for you?

The masks you wear, the sentences you form…

Which part was you, and which was merelya role you played?

One morning, you might find yourself in the middle of a system that runs on well-oiled gears.

You’re not the one who set the gears in motion.

Nor are you powerful enough to stop the cycle.

But you’re inside that system.

The alarm goes off in the morning; the screen goes dark in the evening.

In between, there are things that are considered to have been lived.

But there’s a vast void stretching between what has actually been lived and the feeling of being lived.

Modernity was presented to us with the promise of making life easier. But what comes easily vanishes like smoke, dissipating… leaving behind neither a shadow, nor a trace, nor any meaning. Today we chase comfort, yet we live like a tree without roots. We don’t touch the earth, we don’t connect with the past, and as for the future, we merely watch the loading bar.

People are told to be yourself, but on what ground, in what mirror?

The world has become the name of the molds used not to live humanely, but to shape humanity.

People have now turned into nothing more than repositories of information.

Information is everywhere, but there’s no voice coming from within.

Piles of content, memorization, lists, and advice.

Data is pouring in from every direction, but no one looks up.

Meaning is slowly evaporating in the glow of the screen.

Information has become a burden to carry.

Meaning, however, is the first thing to fall by the wayside.

A person who has lost themselves no longer carries the data—they have become a vessel carried by the data. For today, the world is suffering the pangs of this mental constipation.

You’re in a home, but you’re a guest in that home.

You look into a mirror, but the reflection isn’t yours.

You carry an identity, but it isn’t yours—it’s what the system deems appropriate for you.

When a person becomes this alienated from themselves, they echo the voice of the outside world instead of their own. The most dangerous thing, however, is when the individual grows accustomed to their own lie.

The truth, however, does not reveal itself easily. It is not a light waiting for you at the top of a mountain; rather, it is the first step you take in a dark tunnel. The truth is hard to define, but the weight of the false is immediately apparent. The real problem is that people now consider the false to be normal, while viewing the truth as dangerous. Amid all this speed and hustle and bustle, saying “Forget it, just go with the flow” instead of stopping to ask questions is a less painful path for some.

So, can you dare to stay true to yourself in this day and age? Is it even possible to stay true to yourself these days?

Seeking the truth often means stepping away from the crowd.

If you’ve read this far or paused for a moment, you might still be at the beginning of the tunnel. Perhaps that quiet voice inside you is whispering: Those who dare to walk in the dark will reach the light.

Everyone’s journey is unique.

Perhaps you’ve thought a lot so far but haven’t taken a step.

Perhaps life is about to bring you to a crossroads.

Perhaps now is simply the time to realize which direction you’re heading.

Perhaps not everything will change right away.

Perhaps these lines will simply cause a new question to take root within you.

Sometimes even a single question is enough; because transformation often begins not with an answer, but with awareness.

Today could be that first day when you hear your own voice—the one that reminds you of what is truly yours.

Will you take a step forward, or will you blend into the crowd and pretend to forget? Forward or backward?

Starting your own story isn’t about changing everything.

In a life that moves so fast, it’s about putting a stop to not having the chance to ask ourselves, “Is this really me?” or “Am I on the right path?”

This pause could mean waking up a little more mindfully in the mornings.

It could mean drinking a cup of coffee during the day—just for yourself.

Or one evening, it could mean simply falling silent and staying with the voice inside you.

Talking to yourself.

Asking yourself.

Saying, “Is this really who I am?”

Taking a notebook and writing down your thoughts.

Opening a book you haven’t read in a long time.

These are the small steps that bring back what is truly yours—steps that call forth the truth. Simply walking, being mindful of each step.

Moving forward doesn’t mean distancing yourself from the crowd…

It simply means turning toward yourself.

Maybe it’s hard, maybe it’s lonely… but it’s definitely more authentic.

Will you keep playing your role, or start your own story?

And maybe this time, the choice is truly yours.
