The will to meaningwill to meaning
Viktor Frankl proposes that the basic drive moving a human being is the search for meaning, and he calls this the will to meaning. Not pleasure or power, but meaning keeps a person standing. He developed this after seeing that, even under the harshest conditions, meaning could be something to hold on to. Meaning arises when a person turns toward something beyond themselves.
