Somatic markersDamasio

Somatic markers are the signals the body gives at a moment of decision that guide the choice. According to this hypothesis, put forward by the neuroscientist Antonio Damasio, past experiences leave emotional traces in the body, and in the face of a decision these traces appear like a foreboding. An inner discomfort or ease felt while considering an option is an example of these markers. Damasio's work showed that logic and emotion are intertwined in decision-making. The body often senses a direction before the mind reaches a conclusion.
