“Başarı, yetenekten çok, can sıkıntısına tahammül edebilme kapasitesidir.”

Baumeister drives home the point that willpower is not a muse, but a biological mechanism fueled by glucose. He debunks the “if you believe, you can do it” nonsense with science. While Cevvela says, “The essence is within you—take the first step,” this book teaches you how to manage the energy needed to take that step. Willpower isn’t infinite; if you hold back in front of your boss at the office in the morning, you’ll snap at your family when you get home in the evening. Because “decision fatigue” is real. You’ll come to realize that your moments of laziness or weakness throughout the day aren’t actually failures, but rather a problem of mismanaged energy—and you’ll shake it off. Intelligence that doesn’t train its will is nothing but a fool deceiving itself.
