Summary

A book on scientific and evolutionary psychology that explains how human biology—which evolved over hundreds of thousands of years as hunter-gatherers (body, movement, nutrition, stress)—is unable to adapt to the comforts and artificiality of today’s modern world, and how this mismatch causes our illnesses.

Cevvela Comment

Canan calls on us to rise from those office chairs and return to the forest—to the codes where we truly belong. She demonstrates how, when the body falls ill, the mind (the essence) also becomes dulled. Constant sitting, constant eating, and the endless artificial stress of modern life are a betrayal of that wild and resilient human nature. Cevvela says, “The essence does not care about the address”; this book says, “The essence does not forgive inactivity.” You come to realize that the comfortable life you thought you had is actually a slow war waged against your biology. If you betray your nature, you become a refugee within your own mind.
