Mitchell didn't simply write a novel. He composed a vast symphony of time and of what human beings are capable of doing to one another. Across centuries, the impulse to exploit the vulnerable never changes — whether it's nineteenth-century slavery or clone workers in a distant future. That rage against systems that normalise injustice is the very spirit Cevvela carries, and it runs through every page of this book.
